Hair salons go pink in October

       Several Westside hair salons are participating in “Pretty in Pink,” a fund-raiser throughout October to help breast cancer survivors and supporters.
       The salon's stylists will have pink stripes in their hair to show their involvement in the benefit for the Young Survival Coalition, a non-profit entity focused on breast cancer victims and survivors ages 40 and under.
       Participating Westside salons are A Total New You, Impressions Salon, Para-dise Hair Salon, Planet Hair, Studio Three, Tangles Day Spa, Tuscany Salon & Day Spa and Veda Salon & Spa.
      
       The public is invited to a free yoga chant followed by a silent meditation, Sunday, Oct. 15 and/or Sunday, Nov 19 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Dancing Hearts Yoga Studio, 2828 W Colorado Ave. For more information, call 390-1611.
      
       Mike Aarhus, John Purdy and Blake Miller have recently opened Reclining Buddha Records at 3120 1/2 W. Colorado Ave.
       Open Tuesday through Sunday, the business sells mostly vinyl records (classic rock), record players and some CDs

       Kathleen Orr is the new owner at Green Valley Weavers, 2115 W. Colorado Ave.
       The business, which sells weaving supplies, offers classes and sells yarn books, is now open Monday through Saturday.

       The Java Buddha Coffee House, which opened earlier this year west of Old Colorado City, has relocated to 2631 W. Colorado Ave.
       The business is open daily, offering coffee, tea and snacks, plus tai chi, yoga and belly dancing classes.
