Meet a Westsider:
Rose Ann Nichols

Profession/Occupation... I am retired but I like to keep busy, so I have three part-time jobs: a merchandiser for a magazine vendor; cashier and security for Santa Fe Pro-tective Service; and a barista at an espresso bar.

What I like most about the Westside is... it is quaint and friendly. People care about one another and help out when needed.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I have lived on the Westside for 50 years. I would like it to stay as it is and not become so commercialized and not grow into another city.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... I’m not a movie-goer, but my favorite was “Pretty Woman.”

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... Try and eat raisins, they are healthy and filled with iron. To this day, I still do not like raisins.

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... I’ve always wanted to meet Dean Martin. I was in Las Vegas but he cancelled his show due to illness.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... I’m saving to travel to my home country, Italy.

My favorite childhood memory is... my sister picked our neighbor’s tulips (approx. 100), she blamed me and I received punishment, but as we got older it has been a fun memory. My whole family is still laughing.

My favorite fall pastime is... getting to the Farmer’s Market for the late season crops. I like to put up green chilies, corn, green peppers, and onions. Also, motoring to the mountains to see the tree colors. We live in a beautiful state.

Something good I’ve read is.. I just finished reading, “Echoes,” by Danielle Steele, it is a very good book filled with adventure, history and love.

My pet peeve is... When I am speaking to someone, I would like him or her to look me in the eye and to be honest.

If I won the lottery, I’d... help my family; college funds for Garrett and Allie, my grandchildren; give to charities (Silver Key and the Cancer Fund); and if there is any left, I would buy myself a large diamond ring.
