No more no-left- turn at 17th Street

After a negative response - in comments as well as driving behavior - the city has removed the no-left-turn markings for southbound traffic on 17th Street at Colorado Avenue.
City Transportation Manager Kathleen Krager said the intersection can function safely either way.
The turn restriction had followed the city's removal of a light for pedestrians crossing Colorado at 17th. Krager said she had been concerned about drivers adjusting to the absence of a light there.
But complaints came in, and she also saw that motorists were still making left turns from 17th. “I was fully prepared for people to ignore or disobey the sign,” she commented wryly in an e-mail. “They did not disappoint me.”
