9 Westside entities, numerous volunteer openings in ‘Make a Difference Month’

Nine Westside entities are among 73 that are offering opportunities for volunteers during the region-wide Make a Difference Month, Oct. 1-31.
For the area as a whole, the United Way and the Center for Non-Profit Excellence (event co-organizers) are looking for more than 5,000 volunteers (1 percent of the population of El Paso County), according to Carrie McKee of United Way. There were about 3,000 volunteers for last year's event.
With advance signups, “we're well on our way to halfway full,” she said, but “we're still in significant need of volunteers.”
To register, go to the volunteerpikespeak.org website and click on the Sign Up link for Make a Difference Month. Information can also be obtained at 955-0751.
Some entities have multiple opportunities and/or dates. Volunteers can sign up for as many or as few as they like.
