County sponsors free hazardous waste drop-off near Citizens Service Center Oct. 3

       El Paso County is offering a free opportunity to get rid of household hazardous waste at its “Fall Clean Sweep” Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
       The location is the open area south of the Citizens Service Center at 1675 Garden of the Gods Road. Directions in a press release state the following: “From Garden of the Gods Road and Arrowswest Drive, go east on Garden of the Gods Road for about one block, then take the first right going south and follow it to the open area.”
       Here is the list of accepted items:
       - Automotive chemicals.
       - Batteries.
       - Electronics (including any size TVs).
       - Household chemicals.
       - Lawn and garden chemicals.
       - Mattresses.
       - Paint products.
       Not accepted are business waste, containers larger than five gallons, flourescent bulbs and tubes, lab-grade chemicals, medicines, tires and unlabeled or leaking containers.
