RRC draft due in mid-October
Sarah Bryarly of Colorado Springs Parks has clarified the release of the draft master plan for Red Rock Canyon Open Space.
“The correct timeline is we will post the draft [on the city website] around Oct. 15, and people will have until Oct. 24 [an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Westside Community Center] to submit comments via e-mail,” she said. “However, if people would prefer, they can come to the open house and submit written comments that evening.”
It had been erroneously reported in at least two local publications that the city had already posted the draft master plan and was taking comments on it.
The mix-up may have resulted from the use of the word “draft.”
At August/September public meetings, City Parks and its consultants met with citizens on various aspects of what was titled the “pre-draft” master plan.
Bryarly announced at the end of the last of these meetings, Sept. 11, that the city would then start preparing its “draft” plan.
After the Oct. 24 open house, the city will fine-tune the draft for submittal to the city's Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) Committee and the Parks Advisory Board.
