Silver Key seeks participants for Oct. 9 Pumpkin-thon fund raiser

Silver Key Senior Services is getting ready for its annual Pumpkin-thon Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Citadel Mall's Food Court.
The event, scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will include monster pumpkins on display, weight-guessing contests, pumpkin-decorating, pie (guess what kind) and cookies.
The event is a fund raiser for Silver Key, a Westside-based non-profit agency that provides a variety of services to area elderly.
Pumpkins can be “adopted” through Silver Key. With these pumpkins, people are urged to “ask your friends and neighbors to pledge so much per pound (or a flat rate) on what your pumpkin will weigh when it is put on the scales at the Pumpkin-thon,” a Silver Key press release states.
The adopt-a-pumpkins are being raised courtesy of the Bear Creek Garden Association. Other donated pumpkins and pumpkin pies are are also welcome.
To adopt a pumpkin or obtain other information about the event, call 632-1521 and ask for extension 105.
