New bistro, glass shop open

       Carlos and Marcia Echeandia plan to open Carlos' Bistro, 1025 S. 21st St., Wednesday, Oct. 6. Located at the former Tommy D's location, the restaurant will offer fresh continental gourmet foods and an oyster bar and will be open for lunch and dinner. The phone is 471-2905.
       J.B. GlassWorks, at 2501 W. Colorado Ave., will open for business Friday, Oct. 1. The business will specialize in “handcrafted works in authentic stained glass,” according to owner/manager Jene Bullock. The phone is 667-0505.
       A “grand reopening” is planned for Hidden Creek Mountain Goods Friday, Oct. 1 at its new location down the street at 2606 W. Colorado Ave.
       Owned by Lisa Smith, the store has been located at 2619 W. Colorado.
       Alberto Leopizzi, owner of A Touch of Class Photo Gallery & Coffee Shop, 2513 ½ W. Colorado Ave., will give a benefit photo exhibit at the Ramada Inn Saturday, Oct. 2. Proceeds will go to ICU and EU patients.
       Bill Crowley, owner of Caricatures America, 2431 B West Colorado Ave., is scheduled to speak at the North Central Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society Nov. 6 in Lincoln, Neb.
       The chapter covers five states, including Colorado. His subject will be “Caricature Gifts from Photos.”
