Howbert Elementary, 1023 31st St., will hold its second annual on-campus “Walk- A-Thon” from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1.
Earning money for the school through sponsors, students from all grade levels (K- 5) will take repeated laps around the upper playground during that time, accompanied by staff, parents and other supporters.
The funding goal this year is $15,000.
“Our PTA is planning on purchasing a shade structure for our playground with the money we earn,” according to a school press release.
Helping out will be Fort Carson's 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, which “adopted” the school last year.
Individual and business sponsors are still being sought. For more information, call 328-4200.
