Volunteers requested for county-led Fountain Creek cleanup Sept. 26-Oct. 4

Volunteers are requested by El Paso County Parks to help clean up along Fountain Creek in a focused effort between Sept. 26 and Oct. 4.
Individuals as well as groups can adopt any part of the watershed during the second annual “Creek Week,” according to County Parks information.
In response to a Westside Pioneer question, Allison Plute, Fountain Creek watershed project manager for Colorado Springs Utilities, said that officials are taking steps to ensure volunteers' safety. This includes working with the Colorado Springs Police Department's Homeless Outreach Team, which “will perform pre-activity 'sweeps' the week before, posting signs encouraging transient folk to move on,” Plute said.
For more information or to volunteer, go to fountain-crk.org/cleanup, e-mail Lisa Godwin at lgodwin@fountaincolorado.org, or call her at 322-2052.
