Guess when new KFC/A&W will open and win a dinner for four there

When will the new KFC/A&W open?
If you can guess the date that food starts being served to the public at the under-construction restaurant at 31st Street and Colorado Avenue, you could win a free meal.
Al Schlosser, general superintendent of MCM Inc., the project contractor, said he would buy an A&W dinner for four or a family bucket of chicken for the person who makes the closest prediction.
The date-guessing contest is a promotion with the Westside Pioneer. Entries should be mailed or e-mailed to the Pioneer. The address is 526 S. 26th St., CS 80904. The e-mail is Postmarks or e-mail dates must be no later than Sept. 27.
Each entry must contain a name, contact phone number and a single date. Only one entry is allowed per household. If there is a tie for the closest guess, the winner will be drawn from a hat.

Schlosser's own estimate for the opening is mid-October, but the project has been hit by various delays - including bad weather, a backed-up city sewer line and other utilities issues - that caused the originally hoped-for July completion date to slide.
Work still to be accomplished includes finishing up the building and parking lots, adding a deceleration lane for eastbound right-turners from the avenue onto southbound 31st Street and putting in landscaping.
Work started at the new restaurant last spring. The structure will replace the original KFC building, which had been at the site since the 1970s.
