'Talk and Walk' Sept. 16 on Red Rock Canyon's geologic history

A free outdoor presentation on the geologic history of Red Rock Canyon Open Space is scheduled Wednesday, Sept. 16, starting at 5:30 p.m.
The speaker will be Mark Izold, a professor at Pikes Peak Community College. He "will cover the Mesozoic history and geology of the open space [and] discuss conservation of these natural resources at Red Rock Canyon," a press release states.
Called a "Talk and Walk," the event will be followed by a hike in Red Rock. The sponsor is the Friends of Red Rock Canyon.
Pre-registration is necessary because of space limitations. To sign up, call David Valier at 685-4792 or e-mail friends@redrockcanyonopenspace.org.
Working with City Parks, the Friends of Red Rock Canyon supports the open space through advocacy as well as maintenance projects.
