Chili cook-off declared success at market

Out of four entries in the 26th Street Market's Chili Cook-off, Lucky Vialpando's concoction (#4) earned the $100 first-prize money Sept. 2
The winner was judged by people coming to the market that morning, who were given free chili tastes by the entrants.
“It was fun. We're going to do that some more,” said market coordinator Helen Ivey. “Maybe next year we'll have a salsa competition too.”
The outdoor market, located in Vermijo Park off 26th Street, is open to the public on Saturdays. It will continue through Sept. 23.
