Coronado High student announced as National Merit Semifinalist

Rachel Wilsey, a Coronado High student, is among two from District 11 and about 16,000 across the country to become Semifinalists in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
About 90 percent of the Semifinalists typically attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, according to a press release from District 11.
The program is organized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), a nonprofit established in 1955. “Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 440 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC's goals of honoring the nation's scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence,” the press release states.
