Open house on South Douglas repairs Sept. 19

City stormwater engineers have scheduled an open house Thursday, Sept. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. to explain upcoming improvements on the South Douglas Creek drainage.
The location will be the El Paso County Citizens Service Center, 1675 Garden of the Gods Road.
Planned are repairs on South Douglas Creek, north of the intersection of Flying W Ranch Road and 30th Street, which failed in the Aug. 9 rainstorm.
The work is slated to start later this month, with completion by “late spring 2014,” a press release states.
The South Douglas drainage continues downstream through Holland Park.
According to the release, the 30th Street-area work was deemed the highest priority after a study by two consultants of needs along the concrete-lined channels in the South and North Douglas Creek drainages.
