Westside Briefs:
Documentary preview, Race for the Cure

The Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center will have 22 free showings of the 41-minute preview of Ken Burns' new documentary on the U.S. National Parks.
Showings will be in the Visitor Center theater twice daily Fridays through Mondays, from Sept. 8 to Sept. 27, according to Bonnie Frum, the center's director of operations.
Showtimes vary. For more information, go to the center's website: gardenofgods.com.

The Komen Race for the Cure will attract thousands of runners and other supporters to the Garden of the Gods Sunday morning, Sept. 13.
The event, which will close off interior Garden roads for most of the morning, is part of an annual national effort to find a cure for breast cancer, with 75 percent of the fundraiser's earnings allowed to remain in the community. The 5-kilometer race will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a 5K walk and 1K family walk.
