Flowery fund raiser for Silver Key

Members of the Broadmoor Garden Club joined Silver Key Senior Services volunteers this week to prepare 250 bouquets for the non-profit agency's first-ever Grandparents Day bouquet sale this week.
As long as supplies last, people can still order bouquets through Friday, Sept. 10. The cost is $10, which includes a gift card that reads: “Grandparents - Your love is special to all those who know you! Thanks a bunch!”
The Broadmoor Garden Club also underwrote the activity. Sales proceeds will go to the Westside-based Silver Key, which provides various services to more than 17,000 elderly in the region.
“We try to help where we can,” said Susan McMullen of the Garden Club.
In other fund-raising news, the annual Silver Key Senior Services golf tournament earned more than $30,000 for the agency Aug. 30.
The earnings, stemming from donations and entry fees by some 120 golfers, bested the previous year's amount. Held at the Country Club of Colorado, the golfers included former Denver Bronco Randy Gradishar. “It's a very nice event,” Silver Key spokesperson Arlinda Thomas said.
