Meet a Westsider:
Dana Phillips

Profession/Occupation... student/sales rep. for Pine Creek Gallery.

What I like most about the Westside is... its friendliness. I think West-siders forget they are in a growing city sometimes, because we keep it like a small town.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... how fast people drive through Old Colorado City.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Garden State.”

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... “You can’t do that; you’re a girl.”

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... I don’t think anyone famous would impress me much, I would much rather stay in touch with locals. They seem more interesting.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... hopefully, New Mexico.

My favorite childhood memory is... playing kick the can with my dad.

My favorite summer pastime is... reading, painting and napping.

Something good I’ve read is.. “Women Artists of the West,” by Julie Danneberg. There is a small but wonderful chapter about Laura Gilpin, Colorado Springs’ famous tomboy photographer.

My pet peeve is... rudeness. I think it’s tacky to not be polite to one another.

If I won the lottery, I’d... take care of my mom & dad for the rest of their lives.

Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
