Live band for Academy ACL's 5th annual Sock Hop - community welcome with RSVP

The Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning (ACL) will hold its fifth annual 1950s Sock Hop Friday, Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Live music will be provided by the rock band, Loose Connection.
Admission is free. Community members are welcome, but an RSVP is requested at 434-6566 or office@academyacl.org.
Other Sock Hop highlights will be Division I students (kindergarten), singing "It's My First Day of School" to the tune of "It's My Party"; and a dance number from Division V students (seventh and eighth grade), a press release states.
The school's PTO (the PAACL) will sell $1 root beer floats while supplies last.
Earlier in the day, dancers Hillary and Adam Moseley from the Ballet Society of Colorado Springs are scheduled for the 8 a.m. school assembly, providing demonstrations of authentic swing and other dances of the 1950s. A hula-hoop contest will begin at 10 a.m.
The doors for the Sock Hop itself will open just before 6 p.m., the release adds.
Located at 2510 N. Chestnut St., Academy ACL is a K-8 District 11 charter school with emphasis on gifted learning.
