Meet a Westsider:
I’m an electrician for Ace Electric II and the vice president of the Mesa Springs Community Association.
What I like most about the Westside is... I love the small-town feeling, the friendliness of everyone, the art walks, all the unique shops and mostly being so close to God’s Country.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I love the way the Westside is, but if I had to change anything I would stop the building on every vacant lot and add a few lakes or ponds.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Water for Elephants.” I’ve been reading the book, and I thought they did a good job on the movie.
I'd like to discover... all the gold at the end of all those rainbows we had this summer. Boy, I sure would be rich! Really... a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease. I lost my father to this horrible disease 14 years ago.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... I would have liked to have met Jackie O (Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis) and Audrey Hepburn. I also would love to meet Robert Redford and Meryl Streep.
The next time I travel, I’m going... Hawaii with my husband. We’re also going to Durango to see our daughter and then to Iowa to visit family.
My favorite childhood memory is... My neighbor in Iowa had a riding academy, so we neighborhood kids got to take the horses for rides and afterwards we would hang out at Catfish Creek and go swimming and catch crawdads.
My favorite summer pastime is... hiking on all the trails here on the Westside. The Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Canyon and Manitou are all within five minutes of my house. But we do that all year long. We also belong to Valley Swim Club and ride our tandem bike.
Something good I’ve read is... I’m reading a lot this summer. A few of them are: “The Help,” by Kathryn Stockett; “Water for Elephants,” by Sara Gruen; and “The Producer,” by Wendy Walker. She is a childhood friend of mine from Dubuque, Iowa, who was also the producer of “Larry King Live.”
My pet peeve is... motorists that don’t use their blinkers and also negative people.
If I didn’t have to work for a year, I would... I would travel with my husband to Greece and also volunteer to help people here in the U.S.A. and elsewhere.
