Transportation planning meeting Sept. 20

The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG), as the federally designated metropolitan planning organization for the Colorado Springs metro area, is launching the development of the 2007-2035 Regional Transportation Plan with a series of public meetings in September.
One of these will be on the Westside, at the PPACG building, 14 S. Chestnut St., Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Other meetings will be in east Colorado Springs, Monument, Woodland Park, Fountain and Falcon.
“Citizens throughout the Pikes Peak region will have the opportunity to share their ideas on a vision and mission for transportation, standards for an integrated multi- modal system and the current state of road, transit, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities,” a PPACG press release reads. “With community input, the plan will serve as the blueprint for implementing a safe and effective transportation system.”
The citizen input will be used over the next year by elected officials and government agencies working with PPACG to prepare the Regional Transportation Plan. The target completion date is August 2007.
For more information, call PPACG at 471-7080. Information is also available on the website at ppacg.org.
