Garden of Gods story at History Center
Questions about how the Garden of the Gods became a city park will be answered in a presentation at the Old Colorado City History Center Friday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m.
Titled “The Growth of a Garden,” the talk will be given by Brook Cruz, who has been an interpreter at the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center for seven years.
The History Center, at 1 S. 24th St., is owned and operated by the all-volunteer Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS).
Doors will open at 10:30 am. Admission is free to OCCHS members and children under age 13, with a charge of $5 to non-members. Seating is limited.
A press release poses some of the questions: “How did our fabulous Garden of the Gods Park become city property? Did you know that houses were almost built in the park as a subdivision? How did people purchase or acquire the land? How did they use the land?”
