Fillmore Street water-line replacement project completed a month early

A Colorado Springs Utilities water-line replacement project on Fillmore Street - initially expected to last through September - has been completed.
“We wrapped up the work sooner than expected,” said Patrice Lehermeier of Utilities.
The project replaced a 45-year-old iron pipe with one made of a modern, more durable material, called high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
Work had started Aug. 1, requiring the closure of one of Fillmore's two eastbound lanes between Centennial Boulevard and Straus Lane, with other traffic impacts during overnight work. The project was part of Colorado Springs Utilities' water main rehabilitation program.
