Presentation Aug. 20 on native and non-native plants at Red Rock Canyon

Amber Shanklin with Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI), will speak on native and non-native plant species Wednesday, Aug. 20 as part of the Friends of Red Rock Canyon's summer Talk and Walk series.
The presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Pavilion in Red Rock Canyon Open Space.
According to a press release, Shanklin will discuss “typical native plants we find in a habitat like Red Rocks and why non-native species are a threat. We will walk through the park and compare and contrast the species we see and talk about why a native species community is the best. We will look at what we as visitors to an area can do to minimize non-native species establishment.”
The presentation is free. Advance signups are necessary at friends@redrockcanyonopenspace.org or 685-4792.
