Back for a second year, the national Slide the City organization Saturday, Aug. 20 will again lay out a 1,000-foot water slide along 21st Street, from Lower Gold Camp Road to Rio Grande Street.
According to plans (worked out in conjunction with the local UpaDowna outdoors group), people who've bought tickets can start sliding at 10 a.m. The end time is 5 p.m
Like last year, the event will require a full closure of 21st Street between Lower Gold Camp and Argus Boulevard. Also closed will be the adjoining Bear Creek Dog Park, although a maintenance day is planned; interested volunteers can contact El Paso County Parks via KyleMelvin@ElPasoCo.com.
Slide ticket prices range from $18 (one ride) up to $99 (slide all day), with higher costs on the day of the event, according to website information.
The organizers estimated 4,500 people took part in the Lower Gold Camp Slide the City last August.
