Most students head back to school Aug. 19

Most Westside students will start back to school Monday, Aug. 19.
An exception is the K-8 Academy for Advanced & Creative Learning, a District 11 charter school that opened for classes Aug. 12 (see story in Aug. 8 Westside Pioneer).
Also, at Coronado High, only the freshmen have classes Aug. 19, to give them a chance to experience the school by themselves for a day; the sophomores, juniors and seniors are to start Aug. 20.
All the Westside schools listed in this article are in District 11, except for the new Mountain Song Community School, which is state-chartered.
Below are brief capsules on each school (principal's name in parentheses). With students still being registered, starting enrollment numbers are approximate. “Retirees” are staffers who retired after the last school year.
