OCCA seeking new marketing director
The Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) merchants group has begun a national search for a new marketing director.
OCCA President Jim Heikes said the merchants group hopes within 60 days to find a replacement for Karen Earley, who resigned in July after about seven months on the job.
Heikes is enthusiastic about the possibilities, noting that more than 200 resumes have come in already, and merchant volunteers are working to narrow down the list. “We want to move as quickly as we can to fill the spot,” he said.
The OCCA had created the director's position last winter, with the idea of helping the merchants expand their efforts to attract shoppers to Old Colorado City. At the time, Earley, whose resume showed similar experience in small Colorado towns, seemed like the best selection. But as things turned out, “it wasn't a good fit for Old Colorado City and we're moving on to find the right fit,” Heikes said.
An intermediate ballroom and Latin dance class, being offered through the West Intergenerational Center, was scheduled too late to be included in the center's fall brochure (which is to be published next week).
The class starts Aug. 19. For cost, dates and other information, call 520-2384.
Waste Management has announced a new service to existing and new customers - “single-stream” recycling (everything in one bin). Additionally, under the new program, residential customers can now recycle glass and cardboard - a service previously only available to commercial customers.
