Bishops move 131st reunion to Bear Creek Park

The 131st annual Bishop family reunion moved to a new location this year - Bear Creek Regional Park. Always scheduled on the first Sunday in August (which was Aug. 2 this year), the reunion of the longtime area family has been held every year since twin brothers Fred and Ed Bishop were born in 1878 on a ranch that's now part of the Air Force Academy.

One of their sons, Westside resident Fred Bishop, said the event went well and many from out of state were in attendance. The total count came to 170, said Tina Bishop, one of Fred's cousins who took the lead role in organizing the reunion.
The former location was Thorndale Park, but Bear Creek provides more space. “It was fantastic,” Tina said. “We had family members who had never come before.”
