Annual Good Times Car Show Aug. 17
Sponsors of the Good Times Car Show are hoping to match last year's 391 vehicles at the annual event in Old Colorado City Sunday, August 17.
Scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the free event will shut down Colorado Avenue from 23rd to 27th streets.
“We don't know if gas prices will put a damper on the show or not, but at the rate that entries are being sent back, we should have at least 350,” said event spokesperson Tony DiCenso.
The Southern Colorado Mopars, the Colorado Cruizers, Cruisin' Mamas, and the Rocky Mountain Mustangers have returned as host clubs. More than 80 trophies were awarded in various classes for original, restored, and modified cars and trucks last year.
Also in 2007, the Good Times Car Show donated $6,000 in proceeds from the event to Canine Companions for Independence, a national nonprofit that provides trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to people with disabilities. That group will again be the recipient this year.
According to the sponsoring clubs, car types will include Ford Model T's, vintage classics, street rods, muscle cars, customs, Corvettes, Mustangs, and foreign cars, as well as trucks.
The Old Colorado City Associates merchants group plans various promotional activities in conjunction with the show.
This year's event is the 17th annual Good Times show and the 14th in Old Colorado City.
