Ridge Road speed racers, circa 1920s
The late Ira Current (whose obituary appeared in the July 30 Westside Pioneer), began doing still photography and movie filming as a teenager, and that blossomed into a career. Although he moved away from the area after college, he was a member of the Old Colorado City Historical Society, which has many of his photos in its archives. The photo above on Ridge Road was probably shot in the late 1920s when young Current was filming a movie about Colorado City’s soapbox derby racers.
