Meet a Westsider:
Alice Adamscheck

Profession/Occupation... Iím now retired. I was a collection manager and counselor for several employment agencies. I was also the secretary for the Colorado Springs Womenís Bowling Association from 1970 to 2009.

What I like most about the Westside is... that itís quiet and very pleasant. Iíve been here since 1960. I grew up in the Bon Shopping Center area.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... less traffic on 30th Street and rude, impatient drivers.

A good movie Iíve seen recently is... I like the old movie channels. There are about seven of them, including Hallmark. One movie Iíve enjoyed is ďSleepless in Seattle,Ē with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks,

The worst advice I ever got was.... quit working. I worked 34 years in employment agencies helping people find jobs. I loved working with people.

If I could meet someone famous, Iíd like to meet... Iíd like to have met Lawrence Welk. I enjoy his music and still watch reruns of his shows.

The next time I travel, Iím going... Hawaii. My husband and I visited Hawaii in the Ď70s and I loved the climate and the people. We also got to meet and talk to several movie stars while there. Jack Lord for one.

My favorite childhood memory is... growing up in the same home with my parents and three brothers and two sisters. I remember helping my brothers collect newspapers for recycling and going with my dad, Warren Smith, to a grass fire Ė he was chief deputy sheriff of El Paso County. I also enjoyed babysitting as a teenager.

My favorite summer pastime is... visiting my daughter and son and my 8 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Something good Iíve read is... I enjoy reading romance novels from Harlequin and Silhouette books. Nora Roberts is one of the writers and Iíve read about 25 of her books. Sheís a very good writer.

My pet peeve is... people who hang up on the phone without talking.

If I won the lottery Iíd... pay all my bills and go on a vacation.
