BBQ for Colorado Day Aug. 1, Westsiders Club gathering Aug. 8

Two events of possible interest to long-time Westsiders will be Saturday, Aug. 1 and Saturday, Aug. 8.
Aug. 1 - For more than 10 years, Victor Shephard has barbecued hotdogs at Thorndale Park (off 24th and Uintah) for anyone who wants to join him in honoring Colorado Day. He says he'll be there again this year, starting around noon and keeping at it for at least a couple of hours. Participants are encouraged to bring side dishes or desserts.
Aug. 8 - The Westsiders Club formed this year as an informal group of long-time locals (many of them Coronado High graduates) who get together every couple of months, usually for breakfast. For those who want to check it out, the location this time will be Mother Muff's (formerly Meadow Muffins), at 2432 W. Colorado Ave., starting at 9:30 a.m. Note: This is a change from the previously announced location (Thorndale Park, as stated in the July-September print Pioneer).
