New musical, 'It's a Dog's Life,' scheduled at Black Box Theatre Aug. 6-22

The Black Box Theatre will present the musical, “A Dog's Life,” with the opening Thursday, Aug. 6 and shows continuing through the 22nd.
On opening night, all proceeds will go to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPRR), which is partnering with Black Box on the event. Both are nonprofits.
The theater is located at 1367 Pecan St. Ticket prices range from $10 to $30, except for opening night. It's a “black tie affair” costing $30 for everyone, with amenities including jazz musician Brenda Gussin playing on the outdoor patio, plus “catered appetizers and beverages,” a press release states.
Shows are scheduled Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., plus 2 p.m. Saturday matinees.
“A Dog's Life” is a new musical by Sean Grennan and Leah Okimoto. “This fun and earthy musical looks at life from a dog's eye view, and what more perfect place to stage it than Colorado Springs, where we love, love, love our dogs!” the press release states.
