Old Colorado City will host its monthly First Friday ArtWalk Aug. 7. A free, self-guided walking tour, the event time frame is from 5 to 8 p.m.
In addition to works on display, the 15 participating shops/galleries (usually identified by ArtWalk flags) typically feature exhibit openings, demonstrations, music and/or refreshments.
At the Hunter-Wolff Gallery, 2510 W. Colorado Ave., guest artist Ali Ghassan, who emigrated to Colorado Springs from Iraq, is scheduled to give a painting demonstration. "He came to the United States in search of a place where he could create freely; to live his dream as an artist," reads a write-up in the current Hunter-Wolff newsletter, "to live the American dream without threat, risk or persecution."
Promoting local artists, the Old Colorado City ArtWalks will continue on the first Friday of the month through December.
