Library appreciation to West Center
What a great act of generosity and community spirit has taken place over the last three month in Old Colorado City. When the staff at Old Colorado City Branch Library realized that renovations of our library would prohibit us from having not only our regular children's programming but also the special Summer Reading Program events, we began to look for alternate sites so that the children in our community would not miss out on these activities. E.D. Rucker, director of the West Center for Intergenerational Learning, came to the rescue by offering us space for our twice-weekly programs at no charge under an existing partnership agreement with the Pikes Peak Library District. As a result of his extra effort, approximately 1,100 children have attended our programs at the West Center this summer. Next time you are at the West Center, be sure to thank E.D. and all his staff for this service to the community!
