Sertoma Clubs hold 5K at Bear Creek Park Aug. 6 to fund hearing aids for needy

A 5K run/walk at Bear Creek Park East Saturday, Aug. 6 will raise money to help needy people buy hearing aids.
Sponsored by area Sertoma Clubs, the sixth annual Sertoma HEARS 5K will start at 8:30 a.m. - runners first, followed by walkers.
The start and finish are near the El Paso County Parks offices southeast of 21st and Rio Grande streets. The cost to run is a $25 donation for adults, with discounts for military, students and younger children, according to the event website, h5ke.org.
The local Sertoma's nonprofit HEARS program last year “provided hearing aids to 88 of our neighbors who could not afford them,” the website states. “This was a gift to the community of $264,000 and a miracle for each recipient.”
Runners/walkers can sign up at the event website. A pledge form is also available. For more information, call 265-9353, or e-mail hears5k@gmail.com.
