Meet a Westsider:
Simon Andrews

Profession/Occupation... I own and run the Colorado Photography School on West Colorado Avenue, where I teach all levels of people how to understand their camera and take better pictures. I’m also a wedding and portrait photographer with my studio, Admire Photography.

What I like most about the Westside is... It’s my home, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I love being minutes from great hikes and being close to the mountains, all with easy access to I-25. People are friendly, and there’s a sense of community. Also there are so many great places to take photos.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... The trees that randomly shed big limbs.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... I watched the classic “Cool Hand Luke” again recently.

I'd like to discover... Tesla’s secret laboratory, including the “free power” notes, everyone thinks he never made!

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Chris Bonington, British mountaineer, a big influence on my early life.

The next time I travel, I’m going... The mountains near Ouray to photograph the columbines.

My favorite childhood memory is... The vacation we took to my mum’s childhood home in Donegal, Ireland. Having adventures along the coast with the children in the village, and spending the evenings sitting in front of a turf fire.

My favorite summer pastime is... If I can squeeze some free time, I’m torn between rock-climbing, fishing, hiking and taking pictures in one of the many beautiful places in Colorado.

Something good I’ve read is... “Ender’s Game,” a military science fiction novel by Orson Scott Card.

My pet peeve is... People who drop trash in the street, or even worse, in the mountains!

If I won the lottery I’d... Visit friends and family all over the world. I’d like to travel through South America too.
