Weeds in Red Rock Canyon subject of July 17 presentation

Invasive plants/weeds will be the topic of a presentation Thursday, July 17, at the pavilion in Red Rock Canyon Open Space.
Tine Travis, environmental technician with the El Paso County Community Services Department's Environmental Division, will give a talk at 5:30 p.m., then lead a hike showing examples of the problem.
Called a “talk and walk,” the event is the third in a series this summer hosted by the Friends of Red Rock Canyon.
The state requires counties to take action to control noxious weeds, based on evidence that they are harmful to indigenous plants and animals.
The presentation is free. Advance signups are requested at friends@redrockcanyonopenspace.org or 685-4792.
