Clark’s Hwy 24 working group to hold first meeting July 19

The first meeting of a special Westside Highway 24 working group will meet Wednesday, July 19 at 6 p.m. at the Regional Building Department, 2880 International Circle.
The group, formed by Westsider/County Commissioner Sallie Clark, is an attempt to get a broad-based look at the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) plans from elected and appointed officials, as well as business leaders, citizens and potentially affected property owners, according to Clark.
She is a strong advocate of reducing the size of the project and/or determining if it is needed at all. She and other skeptics have questioned why the 4-1/2-mile segment between Manitou and I-25 needs such a major expansion when the highway east and west of it is staying the same size.
The meeting will be open to the public, although seeking comments from the public is not the purpose of the meeting, Clark said.
