Bicycle shop opens in 30th Street center

CS West Bikes would like to become a “neighborhood bike shop” on the Westside. Inside their CS West Bikes shop, Mindy Carter and Sean Mullally display a couple of the new bicycles.

The recently opened shopping-center business at 505 N. 30th St. offers bicycle repairs, as well as parts, accessories and some new and used bikes.
The owners are Colorado Springs couples Mindy and Rush Carter and Sean and Hope Mullally.
Mindy and Sean, the business' chief managers and mechanics, said they are happy to work on any kind of bike, regardless of type or age. “Everybody's got to start somewhere,” Mindy said.
Her own start was her husband Rush introducing her to mountain bicycling when she was 18. To save money, she taught herself bicycle repairs, and topped that off with a course at the Westside-located, internationally respected Barnett Bicycle Institute.
CS West is an outgrowth of a mobile repair business that Mindy operated from her Westside home the last year and a half. “I grew out of my house,” she said. “With three kids and all my repair work, I ran out of room.”
Sean is a self-taught mechanic, who started fixing bikes when he was 8 years old. He and Mindy have gotten to know each other through the area cycling community over the past four years. So when she decided to start a shop, she asked Sean to join in.
The mobile repair part of the business is currently on hold. It would be difficult for one person to be running the shop and working on bikes while the other was out in the field, Mindy explained.
In terms of new bikes, CS West carries two in particular - the Day 6 Dream and the Gunnar line.
