Ride for the Brand Rodeo set July 4

The area's annual Working Ranch Cowboy Association (WRCA) rodeo will be back at the Norris-Penrose Event Center Saturday, July 4.
Starting at 6 p.m., Ride for the Brand Championship Ranch Rodeo will feature about 60 cowboys from 12 ranches in 5 different states competing for team and individual honors in events that are similar to what they do on the job. Afterward (around 9 p.m.), country-rock band Chute Nine will perform immediately in what event spokesperson Nikki Gagner described as a “party in the dirt.”
Related events will happen beforehand, July 3 and 4, as part of the Rocky Mountain Horse and Expo, also at Norris-Penrose. Continuing through the day, the expo - which actually lasts through July 5 - will offer horse clinics, demonstrations, vendor booths and interactive events, according to event spokesperson Nikki Gagner. Other than the clinics, there will be no charge for attending.
Also July 3, as in past years, Ride for the Brand will be preceded by a “longhorn cattle drive” through downtown Colorado Springs. There is no admission fee to these events.
Rodeo ticket prices are from $15 to $25 and are available at all TicketsWest locations or by calling toll free 866-464-2626 or going to www.ticketswest.com.
Ride for the Brand will be followed closely by the annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, part of the professional rodeo tour, at Norris-Penrose, July 8-11.
