Historical Society getting busy

A busy Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS) drew steady crowds to Bancroft Park for its craft fair June 20, and is now looking ahead to an Ice Cream Social Tuesday, July 7 leading into its annual Tuesday Nights in July speaker series.

Sherri and Greg Ramsay, part of the Jessum Buds band, performed at the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS)'s craft fair June 20. The band's third member was unable to be on hand, they said.

“Considering it drizzled until about 12 noon and the sun finally broke out when the Just Jump kids [a jump-rope team from School District 49] started to perform, I think the day went really well,” OCCHS volunteer Jo Cervone said of the fifth annual fair. She estimated about 350 people in all dropped by the 30-some vendor booths or to take in the entertainment (which also included two bands).
The Social will be Tuesday, July 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the OCCHS' History Center, 1 S. 24th St. Pie and ice cream will be sold, Cervone said. Like the fair, it's a fundraiser for the all-volunteer OCCHS.
The speaker series will be July 14, 21 and 28. The speaker list has not yet been finalized.
