Bancroft blues series to start July 1

Bands will perform seven consecutive Thursday nights in the annual Paint the Town Blue series in Bancroft Park, starting July 1.
Featuring popular local bands that play blues music, the free outdoor shows will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. In case of rain, the performers will move to nearby Front Range Barbeque, 2330 W. Colorado Ave., according to information from the event organizer, the Pikes Peak Blues Community (PPBC).
The return of the series was made possible by a $5,000 fundraising campaign this spring by the non-profit PPBC. In addition to numerous private donations, the PPBC received sponsorship help from the Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) business group, Pikes Peak National Bank, Front Range BBQ and Meadow Muffins a PPBC release states.
The PPBC has produced Paint the Town Blue since 2003. It moved the concerts to Old Colorado City in 2006.
The band schedule is as follows:
July 1, Westside Rhythm Kings; July 8, Grant Sabin; July 15, B.J. Estares & Route 61; July 22, Kim Ciara Quintet; July 29, Jake Loggins Band; Aug. 5, Lethal Lisa McCall Band; Aug. 12, Bijou Street Blues Band.
