In memoriam: Ruth Vrooman

       Ruth Lois Vrooman, 90, of Fort Collins, passed away June 12.
       She was the wife of the late Egmont Vrooman, the main developer of the Pleasant Valley neighborhood.
       Ruth grew up in Chicago, Ill., married Egmont in 1943 and moved to Colorado Springs in 1954. The couple raised four daughters while living in the Orchard House at what has since become the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site (then called White House Ranch).
       Ruth also volunteered at the Assistance League of Colorado Springs for 40 years. According to the family obituary, “she will be remembered for her baked goods, sense of humor and love of animals.”
       She is survived by her daughters, Sherry of Loveland, Bonnie of Evergreen, and Sally and Vickie of Fort Collins; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
       A private family service will be held.
