Westside briefs:
OWN to meet at new West Center

The Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN) board meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 23 at 7 p.m.
The new location will be the West Center, 1628 W. Bijou St.
The board normally holds its monthly meetings on the second Tuesday, but had to postpone it this month because of the center's transitioning to its new site (the former Buena Vista school), starting June 1.
OWN is the city-recognized advocacy group for the older Westside.
       For more information, call 471-4023.
Coronado High School, 1590 W. Fillmore St., will be the site of an open house Wednesday, June 24 for the U.S. Forest Service's South Rampart Travel Management Plan proposal.
Public comments will be taken by the Forest Service from 4 to 8 p.m.
Ultimately, the plan will determine motorized roads and trails and non-motorized trails on 121,168 acres of National Forest lands within El Paso and Teller Counties, a Forest Service press release states.
For more information, call Forest Service planner Frank Landis at 477-4203 or e-mail flandis@fs.fed.us.
Silver Key Senior Services, in collaboration with the Elevate Ministry at New Life Church, will help local seniors (60 or over) with various yard and home projects this summer.
Seniors are asked only to provide the materials (paint, lumber, hardware, plants, etc.) for the projects.
Work dates are June 20, July 25 and August 15. It is not necessary to be a Silver Key client.
For more information, call the Westside-based non-profit organization for the elderly at 884-2360.
