8 Thursday-night blues shows in Bancroft Park through Aug. 7

Outdoor concerts by the Pikes Peak Blues Community (PPBC) in Bancroft Park will start Thursday, June 19 and continue weekly - eight of them in all - through Aug. 7.
The times are 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Performers will set up in the Bancroft bandshell. However, in the event of rain, Jives Coffee Lounge, 16 Colbrunn Ct., will be the fallback site, according to Brenda Knight, president of PPBC.
There is no charge for the show. People are welcome to bring blankets or chairs. Dancing is welcomed.
"Make some new friends, hang out with old friends," reads a promotional comment on the PPBC website. "Listen to local musicians that routinely play all over town."
The PPBC, a volunteer support organization for area blues and rock bands, began organizing the series in 2003, moving the concerts to Old Colorado City in 2006.
      The schedule is as follows:
       - June 19, Old Souls Band.
       - June 26, Lethal Lisa McCall Band.
       - July 3, Wolfgang with Sharon Wolfe.
       - July 10, Brickyard with Rocky Gene Wallace.
       - July 17, D-Day Invasion.
       - July 24, Plastic Mojo.
       - July 31, Ryan Manzi Blues Band.
       - Aug. 7, Westside Rhythm Kings.
