Center ‘Roundup’ June 26

A public get-together at the Westside Community Center is scheduled Saturday, June 26.
Called the “Westside Roundup,” the event from 11:30 to 2 p.m. will include free hotdog lunches, children's activities, a Firewise demonstration and information about the new non-profit operation of the center through a limited liability corporation (LLC) of Woodmen Valley Chapel.
The children's activities will mostly be in a Western theme, with games such as “rope-the-horse” and “pan for gold,” along with face painting, a bounce house and miniature show ponies to pet.
The food will be provided by Woodmen's Mobile Kitchen.
The center had been run by City Parks, but budget issues this year caused the city to seek out a non-profit entity to take over operations. Woodmen Valley Chapel was the only entity to respond to a request for proposals. The church has since set up the LLC and enlisted support from several Westside-based entities that serve the public.
For more information, call the center at 385-7920.
