Westside politickin': Apparently no Demo D-3 candidate

Tom McElroy, who had announced at the Democratic County Assembly April 24 that he would run for El Paso County District 3 commissioner, has not filed the necessary candidate's affadavit with the County Clerk's Office (which would allow the receipt of campaign contributions) nor done any visible campaigning for the office.
This evidently means the new commissioner will be one of the two Republicans who made the August primary at their party's County Assembly - Sallie Clark and Jack Gloriod.
A spokesperson from Democratic Party Headquarters could not be reached for comment.
Upcoming campaign events, open to the public:
June 12, 3:30 p.m. - a “volunteer roundup” for the Reelect Michael Merrifield campaign at the Warehouse Restaurant, 25 W. Cimarron St. Merrifield, a Democrat, is the incumbent District 18 state representative.
June 19, 8 a.m. - breakfast with Rep. Michael Merrifield at the Olive Branch, 23 S. Tejon St. Of the event, Merrifield noted: “As a fiscal conservative, I ask that this breakfast be Dutch.”

“Westside politickin’” will be a regular column, reporting on Westside-related campaign news.
