West Middle School student Summer Wilson part of first-place team at international FPS event
She and team members from Indiana, California and Sydney, Australia, combined to write a four-chapter story in two hours about Space, according to Anne Wolf, a gifted-program coordinator in District 11 who helps coordinate FPS efforts. She was coached by Deborah Shipley at West, Wolf said. FPS is a judged competition in which student teams, working within a time limit, develop and organize creative fixes for problems that could happen in the future.
