Summer Wilson from West Middle School was a member of the first-place Scenario Team Writing competition at the Future Problem Solving (FPS) International Conference June 12-15 at Iowa State University.
She and team members from Indiana, California and Sydney, Australia, combined to write a four-chapter story in two hours about Space, according to Anne Wolf, a gifted-program coordinator in District 11 who helps coordinate FPS efforts. She was coached by Deborah Shipley at West, Wolf said.
FPS is a judged competition in which student teams, working within a time limit, develop and organize creative fixes for problems that could happen in the future.
