Meet a Westsider:
I’m a bartender at Jorge’s.
What I like most about the Westside is... the people and the peacefulness.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I wouldn’t change anything. I’d leave it as is and hopefully they (developers and whoever) will, too.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Hotel for Dogs.” It was cute and not an animation. The message I got from it was, “No matter what life brings you, you can beat it.”
I'd like to discover... what teenagers are thinking. I have six daughters and a son, my youngest.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Sean Connery. Nuf sed.
The next time I travel, I’m going to... Virginia Beach, to see family. My daughter is in the Navy. She’s stationed there in Norfolk.
My favorite childhood memory is... the time my friend Randy Smith and I built a tadpole pond in his parents’ backyard. I was 7 and he was 5. We had carried buckets of tadpoles and put them in the hole we had dug and lined with plastic and filled with pond water. It took us about a week or two to do everything. Next thing we knew, we had thousands of frogs all over the yard. Boy, was his mother surprised, and so were we!
My favorite summer pastime is... Salsa dancing and sitting on my front porch.
Something good I’ve read is.. my son’s report card and Latina magazine.
My pet peeve is... rude people.
If I didn’t have to work for a year I would... I love what I do and can’t picture not working but since I have nine grandchildren, I’d probably spoil them more!
